WhatsApp Templates

Unlike standard emails, WhatsApp Business requires that all business-initiated messages (promotional or transactional) use a pre-approved template. The AlgorithmX Library allows you to create, submit, and manage these templates directly with Meta.

1. Prerequisites

  • Verified WhatsApp Business Account (WABA): Your business must have an active WABA connected to AlgorithmX.
  • Meta Policy Compliance: Ensure your message content strictly adheres to WhatsApp's Commerce and Business Policies.

2. Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Navigating to the Library

Go to LIBRARY > Whatsapp Templates in the sidebar. This dashboard displays all your templates along with their current Meta approval status (e.g., Approved, Pending, Rejected).

Step 2: Creating a New Template

Click Create Template.

  1. Template Name: Enter a unique name (lowercase, no spaces, e.g., eid_sale_promo).
  2. Category: Select the correct category (Marketing, Utility, or Authentication). Meta will reject templates with incorrect categories.
  3. Language: Select the language of the template.
  4. Header (Optional): Add a text title, image, or video to appear at the top of the message.
  5. Body: Write your core message. Use double curly braces {{1}}, {{2}} to insert dynamic variables (like the customer's name).
  6. Footer (Optional): A short gray text at the bottom.
  7. Buttons: Add quick reply buttons or Call-to-Action (CTA) links (e.g., Buy Now).

Step 3: Submission and Review

Once designed, click Submit for Review. The template is sent securely to Meta.

3. Configuration Reference

| Field Name | Type | Description / Best Practice | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Category | Dropdown | Critical: Promotional messages must be Marketing. Order updates must be Utility. | | Dynamic Variables | Syntax | Use {{1}}, {{2}} in the body. You must provide a sample value (e.g., "John") so Meta understands the context. | | Quick Replies | Button | Up to 3 buttons that users can tap to instantly reply. | | CTA Link | Button | A button that directs users to a website. Can include dynamic URL parameters. |

4. Best Practices & Troubleshooting

Best Practices

  • Avoid Spammy Language: Do not use overly aggressive sales language, excessive emojis, or ALL CAPS.
  • Provide Clear Samples: When using variables {{1}}, always provide realistic sample data. Meta reviewers will reject templates if they don't understand what the variable represents.

Troubleshooting

[!CAUTION] Template Rejected? If Meta rejects your template, the dashboard will display a rejection reason. The most common reasons are:

  1. Incorrect Category selected.
  2. Promotional content inside a 'Utility' template.
  3. Vague variables without sample data. Fix the issues and submit a new version.
