Contacts Management

The Contacts section is the central repository of your Customer Data Platform (CDP). Every user who interacts with your brand across any channel is stored and managed here.

1. Prerequisites

  • Data Sources: Contacts can be added via manual CSV import, REST API integrations, or automatically captured via the AlgorithmX SDK on your frontend properties.

2. Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Navigating the Directory

Click on Contact > Directory in the sidebar. This brings up your entire customer database in a searchable, filterable grid.

Step 2: Exploring the 360-Degree Profile

Click on any specific contact row to open their Detailed Profile.

  1. Identity Resolution: View their unified identity (Name, Email, Phone Number).
  2. Custom Attributes: Review business-specific data synced to this user (e.g., Total LTV, Last Login Date).
  3. Activity Timeline: Track their entire history with your brand, including emails opened, links clicked, and workflows triggered.

Step 3: Managing Static Lists (CSV Imports)

In addition to dynamic segments, you can manage static contact groupings for offline channels or events (e.g., trade fair attendees, newsletter subscribers).

  1. Navigate to Contact > Lists.
  2. Click Create List.
  3. Download the standard CSV template format to prepare your file using Excel or Google Sheets.
  4. Upload your populated CSV file to bulk-import the users for a one-off campaign.

Step 4: Creating Custom Fields

If your CSV file contains specific business data beyond the default fields (like Name, Email, Phone), you must configure Custom Fields before importing.

  1. Navigate to Contact > Custom Fields in the left menu.
  2. Click Create Custom Field in the top right corner.
  3. Define the Name and select its Type (Text, Number, Date, or Boolean True/False).
  4. Save the field. It will now be available during your CSV import process.

Step 5: Suppression Lists

To manage users who have opted out or to block specific domains from receiving communications:

  1. Navigate to Contact > Suppression List.
  2. Manually enter email addresses or bulk-import a .csv file containing the unsubscribed users. AlgorithmX will strictly block campaigns from sending to any email present on this list, ensuring compliance with anti-spam regulations.

3. Configuration Reference

| Feature/Field | Type | Description / Best Practice | | :--- | :--- | :--- | | Search Bar | Input | Supports searching by exact email, partial name, or exact phone number. | | Phone Number | Attribute | Critical: Must include the E.164 country code (e.g., +966) to be eligible for WhatsApp Campaigns. | | Email Status | Status | Subscribed, Unsubscribed, or Bounced. AlgorithmX automatically skips bounced emails in future campaigns. | | CSV Import | Action | Bulk upload tool. Ensure your CSV headers exactly match the names of your Custom Fields. |

4. Best Practices & Troubleshooting

Best Practices

  • Data Hygiene: Periodically clean out inactive contacts or hard-bounced email addresses to maintain a healthy sender reputation.
  • Unified Identifiers: Ensure your internal systems always pass a unique userId to AlgorithmX to prevent creating duplicate contact records.

Troubleshooting

[!WARNING] Missing Contacts after Import? If your CSV import succeeded but contacts are missing, check the formatting of your Email column. Invalid emails are automatically dropped during the import process to protect your database integrity.
